GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) has announced the appointment of Jelutong member of parliament RSN Rayer, as its new chairman, effective Aug 1 until July 31, 2026.
In a statement today, PHEB said Senator Dr A. Lingeshwaran was appointed as the deputy chairman, and the decision was made during the board’s inaugural meeting today.
In addition, State Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo was appointed as an executive council member responsible for coordinating matters related to the state government.
“PHEB looks forward to working under the leadership of RSN Rayer to serve and empower the Hindu community in Penang,” the statement read.
On Aug 1, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow revealed the appointment of 19 PHEB new commissioners, whose term will run until July 31, 2026.
Among the appointees were Rayer, Lingeshwaran, Bagan Dalam assemblyman K. Kumaran, Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan, and Penang MIC chairman Datuk J. Dhinagaran. — BERNAMA
