OSAKA: Malaysia recorded RM11.2bil in potential investments at World Expo 2025, says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He added that he is confident Malaysia will meet its RM13bil target with three months left before the expo ends.

“Hopefully we can meet the target. It’s not too far away,” said the Investment, Trade and Industry Minister after visiting the Malaysia Pavilion.

Sectors attracting investors include green technology, the halal industry, renewable energy, the bioeconomy and the digital economy.

A total of 34 memoranda of understanding have been signed so far.

He said visitor numbers to the Malaysia Pavilion have already exceeded the target.

Last week, visitors totalled 2.2 million since the expo began, surpassing the 1.5 million target.

He said roti canai is a crowd-puller at the pavilion, with about 1,500 pieces sold daily.

“We also showcase traditional performances outdoors. This also draws visitors to our pavilion,” he said.

World Expo 2025 is held in Osaka from April to October, and it is a large-scale international exhibition held every five years.

It provides a platform for nations to showcase innovations, technologies and cultural achievements.
