KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) — Cloudera, a data and artificial intelligence (AI) platform company, has announced its acquisition of Taikun, a Czech-based provider of Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure management solutions, to enhance its cloud deployment capabilities across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
The acquisition enables Cloudera to accelerate delivery of its complete platform – including data services and AI – across public clouds, on-premises data centres, and air-gapped or sovereign environments, all through a unified control plane.
“This acquisition marks a pivotal step in our mission to bring the cloud experience wherever enterprise data resides.
“By integrating Taikun’s container-native platform, we are removing operational barriers and helping customers unlock faster insights,” said Cloudera chief executive officer (CEO), Charles Sansbury in a statement.
Meanwhile, Taikun’s former CEO, Adam Skotnicky said the acquisition allows the company to extend its reach globally, adding that only Cloudera is the right organisation for Taikun to join at this critical moment for data and AI.
The acquisition will strengthen Cloudera’s ability to offer seamless workload deployment across various environments without compromising performance or flexibility, particularly benefitting highly regulated sectors such as government and defence.
Among the key benefits are zero-downtime upgrades, enhanced resource optimisation, and support for a wide range of data engines and partner technologies, including Spark, Kafka, and HBase.
Cloudera’s move aligns with its “cloud anywhere” architecture strategy, providing long-term deployment flexibility and simplified operations for enterprises managing complex infrastructures.
Taikun’s engineering team will join Cloudera’s engineering, product, and support divisions, while its Czech Republic headquarters will serve as a new European development hub for the company.
This is Cloudera’s third strategic acquisition in 14 months, following the purchase of Verta in May 2024 and Octopai in November 2024, as part of its effort to expand platform capabilities and meet rising enterprise data demands.
