LAHAD DATU: Three sisters were arrested by police yesterday for allegedly using a lost automated teller machine (ATM) card belonging to someone else to go on a shopping spree.
It is learnt that the women made contactless payment transactions at several premises around the district using the card, which did not belong to them.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Dzulbaharin Ismail said the arrests were made following a report lodged by the owner of the lost card.
“The victim lodged a police report after realising their ATM card was missing.
“A check with the bank showed that the card had been used without permission at several shopping centres.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of three suspects, who are siblings,” he said in a media statement today.
He added that all three suspects were arrested to assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Computer Crimes Act 1997.
