KUALA LUMPUR:

National shuttlers Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King captured their first BWF World Tour Title after winning the Macau Open today.

The world No 24 Malaysians fought hard to upset Indonesia’s world No 8 pair Moh Reza Pahlevi-Sabar Karyaman Gutama 22-20, 21-18 in a 79-minute final.

The match was repeatedly delayed as rainwater leaked through the roof of the Macau East Asian Games Dome, forcing officials to mop the court after almost every point.

Wan Arif-Roy King will take home US$29,230 (RM125,128) as champions, while the runners-up earn US$14,060 (RM60,188) from the BWF World Tour Super 300 event.
