KUALA LUMPUR: Men’s doubles Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King got their revenge on Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Reza Pahlevi Isfahani to win their first Super 300 title at the Macau Open on Sunday.
The world No. 24 Malaysian men’s doubles pair defeated the world No. 8 22-20, 21-18 in 79 minutes at the East Asian Games Dome.
The victory snaps a three-match losing streak for Arif-Roy King against the Indonesians.
Like the two finals before, this match was also disrupted by regular mop-downs due to water dropping onto the court from the roof.
The two pairs had met previously in the final of the Spain Masters last year, where the Indonesians won in three games.
