KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared that no one will be shielded if they are linked to the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir.
He assured that those found guilty of causing her death will face legal repercussions, regardless of their status, including Tan Sri or Datuk Seri.
In his commitment to ensuring justice, Anwar stated that anyone associated with her death or conspiring with those involved will not receive protection.
“But do not accuse others without proof,” Anwar emphasised. He made these remarks during an event here on Sunday (Aug 3).
“If there is evidence of wrongdoing, then we punish. We are a country of law, not a nation of slander,” he added, noting that he has directed the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter without shielding anyone.
Anwar stressed that he does not interfere with legal matters but insists on fair and transparent investigations.
“I was informed that the investigation papers have been handed over to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further action,” said Anwar, urging the public to allow the law to take its course.
