SHAH ALAM: The Malaysia Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) announced that 10 areas in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak are now under hot weather status Level 1 (alert).
These are areas where the maximum daily temperature reached between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.
The agency, in a statement posted on Facebook on Saturday (Aug 1), listed five areas on the peninsula, including Baling (covering Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu districts) in Kedah, Selama in Perak, and two districts in Pahang, namely Maran and Rompin.
“Four areas in Sabah are also under alert status, namely Pitas, Kota Marudu, Beaufort and Tenom.
“Meanwhile, one area in Sarawak, namely Limbang, also recorded the same continuous hot temperature,” it said.
