: Malaysia will launch a nationwide measles-rubella vaccination campaign on Aug 4, following a rise in infections and reported deaths among unvaccinated children.

The Health Ministry announced that the campaign would focus on all children aged six months to 59 months, as measles cases nearly doubled in 2024 and vaccine coverage in some areas remains low.

In a statement on Saturday (Aug 2), the ministry said the Measles-Rubella Supplementary Immunisation Activity (MR SIA) aims to strengthen herd immunity and support Malaysia’s goal of eliminating measles by 2030.

Children born between Aug 1, 2020 and Jan 31, 2025, are eligible for the additional dose, which will be provided free at all government health clinics.

Appointments will be sent and can be booked through the MySejahtera app. Parents and guardians may also bring eligible children to a government health clinic directly.

For more information, parents can contact their nearest district health office or government clinic.
