PAPAR: Police say there is no evidence so far linking any Very Important Person’s (VIP) child — including ministers’ family members or those associated with Istana Seri Kinabalu — to the death of a Form One student at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha Limauan.
Papar police chief Superintendent Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said investigations are ongoing and that police are committed to examining every aspect of the case without compromise.
“So far, investigations have not found any evidence suggesting the involvement of a VIP’s child.
“The police stress that there will be no compromise or protection given to anyone suspected of being involved, regardless of their background,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the investigation is being carried out comprehensively, transparently, and fairly to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
Kamaruddin also told the public not to spread speculation that could disrupt the investigation or undermine efforts to seek justice.
Earlier, social media was abuzz with claims linking the student’s death to a minister’s child and other influential individuals, sparking widespread public reaction.
Yesterday, Istana Seri Kinabalu denied viral allegations on social media linking the death of the student to the family of Sabah governor Tun Musa Aman.”
Sabah police commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the investigation papers have been sent to Bukit Aman for further review before being forwarded to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further action.
A total of 60 witnesses, including teachers and students of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha Limauan, have had their statements recorded in the investigation into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, who is believed to have fallen from the third floor of the school’s dormitory.
