TNB launches EV charging station at Ipoh polytechnic

IPOH: TNB has launched an electric vehicle (EV) Electron charging station at Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic (PSAS), marking a significant step in strengthening the electric vehicle technology training ecosystem under the Polytechnic Centre of Technology Automotive and Manufacturing (POLCAM) initiative.

PSAS said that the launch of the station on campus was the result of a strategic collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), established in 2023, making it the first to be installed at a polytechnic institution in Malaysia.

“This effort aligns with the national agenda to expand EV usage and enhance technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in green technology, in line with Malaysia’s target to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

“Equipped with a dual-nozzle 120kW fast charger, this charging station can be accessed 24 hours a day, complete with EV parking and mobile payments (mobile apps).

“It not only benefits the polytechnic staff and students, but also provides convenience to drivers exiting the main highway on the north-south route,” it said in a statement today.

Polytechnic Education and Community Colleges Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Zahari Ismail launched the station on Tuesday. – Bernama
