PETALING JAYA: A 56-year-old man was killed when the car he was travelling in skidded and plunged into a ravine along Jalan Lama from Genting Sempah towards Gombak late Sunday (March 8).
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received a distress call at 10.46pm, prompting a team from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station to be dispatched to the scene, about 28km away.
“The accident involved a car that is believed to have skidded off the road before plunging about 80m into a ravine,” he said.

“The male victim was believed to have been flung out of the vehicle and suffered severe injuries,” he added in a statement on Monday (March 9).
Ahmad Mukhlis said firefighters carried out operations to bring the victim up from the ravine.
“However, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel at 1.15am,” he said.
He said the case was later handed over to the police for further action.
