SHAH ALAM: Datuk Shazeli Kahar has officially taken over the reins of the police.

He took over as the state police chief during a handing over of duties ceremony at the police headquarters this morning.

The ceremony was witnessed by Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology Department director Gilberd Philip Layang.

Shazeli took over the helm from deputy police chief Deputy Commissioner Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan who assumed the role as acting Selangor police chief following the promotion of Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

It was reported that five senior officers have been appointed as new state police chiefs in the latest reshuffle exercise announced by Federal police at Bukit AMan.

All five officers will assume their new positions with the rank of Commissioner as part of the leadership restructuring exercise across key state commands.

The reshuffle also involved several senior officers taking on new roles at the federal level and in training institutions, according to an official statement issued by Secretary of Police Datuk Kamaruzaman Abdullah.
