ISKANDAR PUTERI: Apart from murder, the father of the six-year-old boy whose body was found in Negri Sembilan yesterday will also be investigated for child neglect and lodging a false report.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the father of Tishant Munisamy has been remanded for seven days, from July 25 to July 31, to assist in the investigation.
In a statement today, Kumarasan said the 36-year-old father was arrested on the same day he lodged a missing person report on July 24.
“In the report, the suspect claimed his son had been missing since 6pm on July 23 in an area in Bukit Indah.
“He said the victim went missing after being left alone inside a parked car while he went to buy food,” he said.
Kumarasan said the arrest of the suspect led police to the discovery of the boy’s body in Rompin.
While the case has been handed over to the Jempol district police’s Criminal Investigation Department, Kumarasan said Iskandar Puteri police will continue investigating the case under child neglect and false reporting.
It was earlier reported that police found the boy’s body buried in an area in Rompin at about 4.30pm yesterday.
Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said in a statement that the suspect led police to the location after his arrest.
Ahmad Dzaffir added that preliminary investigations indicated the victim was murdered and buried in the area.
