KUALA LUMPUR: The Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) targeted subsidy is projected to generate savings of up to RM2.5 billion in 2026, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the projected savings would stem from curbing leakages associated with blanket fuel subsidies while maintaining price stability for the majority of Malaysians.
“The success of the targeted RON95 implementation allows us to estimate savings of about RM2.5 billion this year,” he said during the Minister’s Question Time.
He added that the government’s approach balanced fiscal responsibility with the need to protect the welfare of the people.
