Island raid: Immigration detains 10 Chinese nationals in Labuan


LABUAN: The Immigration Department detained 10 Chinese nationals for failing to produce valid travel documents in raids on four homes yesterday night.

Labuan Immigration Director Raymond Entalai said the operation, which ran after midnight, followed tip-offs and surveillance.

A total of 20 people, comprising 15 men and five women from , were inspected. Ten were subsequently detained for further investigation.

“During the raids, several people attempted to escape through back doors, leading to a brief chase. All were eventually apprehended without incident.”

Four witness summonses were also issued to assist in the investigation.

Raymond said those detained were taken to the Labuan police headquarters lockup for further action.

He reminded the public and employers not to harbour or hire undocumented migrants, as strict action can be taken against them.

“Those with information on undocumented migrants or activities violating immigration laws are urged to contact the department.”
