GOMBAK: Seven roads around the Batu Caves area will be closed off for the Thaipusam celebration.

police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar, at a press conference here at Batu Caves, said that the roads will be closed in stages.

Among the roads affected include the Kampung Melayu Batu Caves traffic light, the Batu Caves Bypass slip road into the main entrance and Jalan Perusahaan heading towards the temple.

“The roads will be closed from Jan 30 until Feb 3.

“A total of 166 officers and 1354 rank and file police officers will be deployed here as well,” he said at a press conference here at Batu Caves.

He added that the area is designated as a no-fly zone for drones unless explicit permission is given.

“The public are urged to always obey the instructions of policemen on duty and to use alternative routes when possible,” he said.
