GWM released a teasing image announcing their entry into the supercar realm. The picture was shared by the company on its official Weibo page in conjunction with the company’s 35th anniversary.
Looking at the image, it can be seen that the model is hidden under a black drape, while it is surrounded by top executives of the company, including the chairman, Wei Jianjun. However, on closer inspection, it can be seen that the mysterious supercar will have a curvy silhouette like the Ora 07, a spoiler at the rear, and round headlights.
Also, the car is painted to be a competitor for BYD’s Yangwang U9, as reported by Car News China. It is also reported that the GWM model will be a plug-in hybrid featuring an in-house developed 4-litre V8. The engine was released by GWM at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025.
Apparently, GWM has been working on a supercar since the year 2021. This was confirmed by Great Wall Motor CTO Wu Huixiao in April this year, stating the company has been working on the model for the last five years.

As of now, this is the only information available from the automaker about the model. However, if it is true that the GWM model is going to rival the BYD Yangwang U9, then the automaker has a big task ahead.
This is because, while GWM has decided to go with a hybrid powertrain as mentioned above, the Yangwang U9 features four e-motors producing 1,287 hp and 1,680 Nm, completing the century sprint in 2.36 seconds. Furthermore, the U9 also comes with BYD’s Disus-X suspension system, which is claimed to improve the handling and driving experience of the car.
Nevertheless, it seems like the supercar is coming soon. We will just have to wait for the next update about the car from the automaker.
