Akmal urges top leadership to consider Umno Youth resolutions

KUALA LUMPUR: Youth has called on the party’s top leadership to consider all resolutions adopted at its special convention earlier this month, saying they reflect the views of its grassroots members.

Youth chief Datuk Dr Mohamad Akmal Saleh said the resolutions adopted reflected the genuine aspirations of the party’s grassroots and the people.

“It is time for us to speak about what is truly happening on the ground. Youth has already voiced its views, both at the convention and at the Youth assembly that has just concluded.

“We ask that all resolutions from this special convention be considered,” he said in his winding-up speech at the 2025 General Assembly today.

Among other demands, the Umno Youth Special Convention called for Muafakat Nasional (MN) to be revived, and for Umno and Barisan Nasional to withdraw from the Unity Government and build cooperation with .

Dr Akmal urged the leadership and members to accept the bitter truth.

“Don’t come here (at the assembly) anymore just to say nice things. The medicine is indeed bitter, but it will heal our wounds. Today we know the president works very hard. There is nothing the president has not done.

“Today we have menteris besar, ministers and deputy ministers who all work hard, but the reality is that what is being said on the ground remains the same, that they are still saying that Umno cannot sit with this party,” he said.
