MELAKA: A nine-year-old boy is in an unstable condition after nearly drowning in a swimming pool at an apartment in Taman Kota Laksamana yesterday.
Melaka Tengah police chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, said the boy, from Masai, Johor, was still unconscious and being treated in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of Melaka Hospital.
“Yesterday, at about 11.20am, police received a call informing us that a child had nearly drowned in the apartment’s swimming pool,” he said in a statement today.
“Upon arrival at the scene, security guards informed us that the victim had already been taken by ambulance to Melaka Hospital.”
He said initial investigations revealed the boy had gone to the swimming pool at 9.30am with his family. His family later noticed he was not in the pool.
“The victim’s family then searched the area around the swimming pool and found that several members of the public had already pulled him out of the pool before he was taken to Melaka Hospital,” he said.
