KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says he will meet Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh later Tuesday (Jan 13) amid the latter’s recent outspoken remarks on the party’s direction.
Ahmad Zahid, however, said he has no information on Dr Muhamad Akmal’s intentions or decision.
“He will meet me this afternoon. I do not know what his decision is,” he told reporters at the World Trade Centre (WTC) on Tuesday (Jan 13)
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, did not provide further details on the scheduled meeting.
Dr Muhamad Akmal previously hinted at stepping aside from his post as Umno Youth chief after his call for Umno to withdraw from the unity government drew a negative reaction from the Umno president.
On Monday (Jan 12), Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said he will abide by the decisions made by Umno president and Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh regarding the positions he currently holds.
