KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd will begin the first phase of a restructuring exercise for selected bus routes in the Klang Valley on Jan 16 as part of ongoing efforts to improve service efficiency and reliability.
Rapid Bus said the exercise would involve the restructuring of 16 MRT feeder bus routes and three Rapid KL bus routes, which will be fully converted to the Rapid KL On-Demand service.
“The restructuring is carried out based on low daily passenger numbers, as well as the availability of alternative options through the Rapid KL On-Demand service along the affected routes,” the company said in a statement on X today.
It added that the routes involved accounted for seven per cent of the total 281 bus routes under Rapid KL’s management, including MRT and LRT feeder services.
Meanwhile, Rapid Bus acting chief executive officer Ku Jamil Zakaria said the restructuring was based on findings from the Demand-Led Bus Network Study.
“The restructuring was carried out based on findings from the Demand-Led Bus Network Study, a bus network planning study based on actual passenger usage data conducted since mid-2024,” Ku Jamil said.
Among the MRT feeder routes affected are T111, T112 and T113 serving areas around Sri Damansara, Metro Prima and Kepong, which will be replaced by services linking Metro Prima Station to Taman Beringin and Taman Bukit Maluri or Taman Sri Sinar.
Other routes include T118 from Sri Delima Station to Taman Kok Doh, which will be replaced by a service linking Sri Delima Station to Sri Segambut, as well as T119 from Kentonmen Station to the Segambut Industrial Area, now replaced by a Kentonmen Station–Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) route.
Routes such as T454 between Bukit Dukung Station and Kampung Sungai Sekamat, and T456 from Sungai Jernih Station to Saujana Impian, will be replaced with services serving Sungai Sekamat and Taman Puncak Saujana respectively.
Several routes serving Putrajaya will also be restructured, including T508, T510 and T512, with services consolidated around Putrajaya Sentral Station, Precinct 11 and the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).
Routes serving Serdang and Bukit Jalil, including T562, T563 and T564, will be replaced with services linking Serdang Raya Utara Station to Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
In the city centre, routes T819 and T820 from Semantan to KL Sentral and Menara DBKL will be replaced by services serving the Kuala Lumpur central business district.
Rapid Bus said DS01, which operates in the morning and evening between Ampang Station and KLCC, will be replaced by Route 300 from Pandan Indah to Lebuh Ampang.
Route 191 from Taman Sri Segambut to Chow Kit Monorail will be replaced by multiple options, including Sri Delima Station–Sri Segambut, Kentonmen Station–MITEC, Titiwangsa Station–Chow Kit and services to the Kuala Lumpur central business district.
Route 451 between Kajang Station and Putrajaya Sentral Station will be replaced by several alternative routes, including Rapid KL route T569, services to Putrajaya Sentral’s precincts, PICC, and Bangi–UNITEN.
