KINABATANGAN: Supporters have begun gathering at the nomination centre here for the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections.
Supporters of Barisan Nasional and Warisan are expected to assemble at several locations around town before marching to the centre with their candidates at 8am.
Nominations will close at 10am, with the final list of candidates expected to be announced before noon.
The Election Commission has set the polling day for Jan 24, with early voting on Jan 20.
The by-elections were called following the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Dec 5.
Bung Moktar, the former Sabah BN chief, was both the Kinabatangan member of parliament and Lamag assemblyman.
BN will field Bung Moktar’s son, Naim Kurniawan for the Kinabatangan seat and activist Mohd Ismail Ayob in Lamag.
Warisan, meanwhile, has named former Sukau assemblyman Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman as its Kinabatangan candidate, while its Supreme Council member Mazliwati Abdul Malek Chua will contest the Lamag seat.
