PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will undertake an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye from Jan 6 to 8 to further strengthen long-standing bilateral relation.
The Prime Minister’s senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, said Anwar is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and co-chair the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), a mechanism reflecting both countries’ commitment to structured and comprehensive strategic engagement.
“The official two-day visit will focus on expanding cooperation across key sectors, including trade and investment, defence industries, technology, education, and people-to-people relations. prime minister is expected to deliver a public lecture and engage with the Turkish business community and the Malaysian diaspora during the visit.
“In Ankara, discussions will centre on enhancing strategic collaboration through government-to-government and private sector partnerships, while reinforcing economic ties between the two nations,” Tunku Nashrul said at a live televised media briefing today.
He said Anwar would also be travelling to Istanbul, where he is scheduled to participate in roundtable discussions with Turkish companies and hold media engagements to articulate Malaysia’s position and outlook on bilateral relations.
“The visit underscores the Madani government’s commitment to expanding Malaysia’s international cooperation network through pragmatic, results-oriented diplomacy.
“It reflects Malaysia’s determination to strengthen strategic, mutually beneficial international partnerships for the long-term benefit of the country,” he said.
The visit comes as Malaysia continues to position itself as a stable and reliable partner on the global stage, anchored on the principles of Malaysia Madani.
