KUALA LUMPUR: Former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has called out PAS for shifting its stance three times in a week over calls for a royal commission into alleged judicial interference.
“In just one week, PAS has taken three different positions on the judiciary crisis that has drawn public attention,” he said in a Facebook post.
He said PAS initially demanded that he attend their rally before its members would support the proposal.
“After facing public backlash, Fadhli Shaari (Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari) said that was not PAS’s official stance, and that PAS actually supported my proposal,” he said.
A day later, Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan made another U-turn, saying the opposition rejected the proposal, he added.
This resembles PAS’s tendency to hand down inconsistent judgments depending on the situation — as long as it benefits their agenda. he said.
“The issue of judicial independence should be a concern for everyone, regardless of political gain.
“It’s difficult to avoid exploiting issues when your only political strategy is to exploit,” he said. “But PAS should be careful — the wrong move will make them look foolish,” he added.
