ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested a 27-year-old man yesterday in connection with a series of motorcycle parts thefts at a bus terminal in Gelang Patah.
Iskandar Puteri police chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan, said several items believed to be stolen were recovered from the suspect, who had no past criminal records and tested negative for drugs.
Police also seized two sets of motorcycle rims and two spanner bars during the arrest at 11.45pm.
The suspect has been remanded to assist investigations under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code, which pertains to the theft of a motor vehicle or its components. If convicted, the offender faces up to seven years’ imprisonment and a fine.
Earlier, a viral post on social media platform X showed a man zooming in on two motorcycles with their rear tyres stolen. The poster had urged the bike owners to get in touch with him.
It is yet to be established what his connection was to the theft.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, Kumarasan said a 17-year-old girl was reported missing from Taman Nusantara, Gelang Patah, on July 14.
The missing teen, identified as Sue Farieda Rajamani, was last seen at Decabin Restaurant in Gelang Patah. She is described as having a tanned complexion, slim build, about 158cm tall, with long black hair and a sharp nose.
He urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact investigation officer Sergeant Yunos Ali at 012-6447432, or the Iskandar Puteri police control centre at 07-5113622.
