JDT beat fallen giants Selangor to extend Super League dominance


PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) extended their dominance over with a 2-0 win at the MBPJ Stadium on Sunday, maintaining their lead at the top of the Super League.

The champions struck in the seventh minute when Nacho Mendez punished a defensive hesitation, slipping the ball past goalkeeper Kalamullah Al Hafiz to make it 1-0.

Despite a disciplined performance from the Red Giants, JDT sealed the victory in stoppage time when Bergson da Silva capitalised on a late break to slot home.

The result extends ‘s winless run against JDT in the Super League since 2017.

JDT remain top with 39 points, while drop to fourth with 25 points.

At the KLFA Stadium, KL City moved to second in the standings after a 4-2 comeback victory over Immigration.

Captain Paulo Josue opened the scoring for KL City in the 31st minute.

Immigration fought back in the second half, with Fadzeul Danel Nizam equalising in the 47th minute before Eduardo Sosa doubled their lead in the 61st minute.

Josue equalised for KL in the 68th minute, shortly before Immigration were reduced to 10 men when Mior Dani Armin was sent off for a second yellow card.

KL City capitalised on the advantage, taking the lead through Safawi Rasid in the 76th minute before Kpah Sherman added a fourth two minutes later.

Kuching City and KL City both have 28 points, with the Sarawak-based club in second on goal difference, while Immigration are ninth with 12 points.
