PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian government is closely monitoring the situation in Caracas, Venezuela, following reports of security operations in the capital.

In a Sunday (Dec 4) press release, Malaysian authorities reiterated their firm stance against foreign intervention and the use or threat of force, emphasising the need for dialogue and peaceful resolution in line with international law and the UN Charter.

“The Embassy of Malaysia in Caracas has successfully contacted all registered Malaysian citizens in the country, confirming they are safe and accounted for,” said the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The Embassy has pledged to continue its close monitoring of the situation and stands ready to offer consular assistance as needed.

Malaysians in Venezuela have been advised to exercise caution and stay in touch with the Embassy for updates and any necessary support.

This situation continues to evolve, and the Malaysian government urges its citizens to remain vigilant.

On January 3, Venezuela declared a state of emergency after aerial strikes targeted the capital, Caracas, according to reports from international media.

US President Donald announced on the Truth Social platform that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife had been captured and taken out of the country following the United States strike on Venezuela.
