RAWANG: Online digital platforms, including Meta, ByteDance and Telegram, have yet to provide any response or assurance to the government following the enforcement of the Online Safety Act 2025 (ONSA) on Jan 1.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said he had not received any information on discussions between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the platforms.
“But we will keep an eye on the matter in the near future, especially as the sandbox process for e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) begins,” Fahmi told reporters after attending the Hari Keluarga dan Rapat Reformis Kebangsaan 2026 at the Bukit Beruntung Golf Resort here today.
