JOHOR BARU: The Immigration Department has crippled a prostitution ring involving seven women from China who used WeChat and Telegram to solicit clients.
The women, aged between 25 and 41, were detained during raids on several apartment units in Tanjung Puteri yesterday night.
Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the raid followed public tip-offs and surveillance.
“Investigations revealed the suspects used WeChat and Telegram to offer sexual services, charging between RM230 and RM400 per session.
“All payments were made in cash. The suspects were also found to have misused their social visit passes to engage in immoral activities,” he said in a statement.
The women are being investigated under the Immigration Act and the Immigration Regulations.
They are currently held at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot.
He urged the public to continue providing information on undocumented migrants or any illegal activities involving foreigners.
