Christmas traffic blitz nets 10 arrests, 257 summonses in Selangor


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 257 summonses and 10 arrests were made during a special traffic enforcement operation carried out across in conjunction with the 2025 Christmas celebrations.

State police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the operation, conducted by the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department simultaneously across all districts under the contingent, also resulted in the seizure of 47 motorcycles and a car.

“In Petaling Jaya, six arrests were made and investigated under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983, following urine screening tests conducted by the National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA).

“Kajang recorded two arrests under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987, while Subang Jaya saw one arrest under Section 45(a) of the same Act. Gombak recorded one arrest for drug possession under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a statement.

Shazeli said the operation involved 222 personnel, comprising 24 senior officers and 198 other ranks, focused on road law enforcement, prevention of street gangster activity, driving under the influence of alcohol, and crime prevention during the festive season.

“It was further strengthened by 20 officers from the Road Transport Department, who were deployed in Sabak Bernam, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and Ampang to ensure smooth execution.

“Overall, the operation ran smoothly and remained under control, successfully achieving its objectives in enhancing law compliance and providing a sense of security to the public,” he said.

He added that the police are committed to ensuring road user safety through the implementation of this special operation during the Christmas 2025 celebrations, conducted simultaneously across all districts under the state contingent.
