VAR deny KL City late penalty in Kuching City draw

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuching City missed the chance to tighten their grip on second place in the Super League after they were held to a 1-1 draw by KL City at the KLFA Stadium on Wednesday.

The Cats scored first through Ronald Ngah in the 31st minute

But KL City hit back in stoppage time through Safawi Rasid.

The City Boys thought they had snatched a late winner in the second half after Safawi was fouled inside the box, but a video assistant referee (VAR) review overturned the penalty decision, and the match ended in a draw.

Both teams remained locked on 25 points, with Kuching City in second on goal difference.

At the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi, Luqman Hakim Shamsuddin scored twice to steer Negri Sembilan to a 2-0 victory over TRW.

Luqman opened the scoring in the 36th minute before adding his second 13 minutes later.

Meanwhile, Melaka slumped to their seventh Super League defeat of the season after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Immigration at the Hang Jebat Stadium.

Immigration scored through Eduardo Sosa in the 24th minute and Joao Pedro six minutes later to return home with all three points.
