SHAH ALAM: Reconstruction of homes destroyed in the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion is well underway, with some expected to be ready by October.
According to a Selangor Putra Heights Explosion Recovery Committee status report, Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru villagers are likely to see their homes rebuilt or repaired before year end.
The report, shared with the New Straits Times, also stated that rebuilding work in Taman Putra Harmoni will be completed by June 2027.
Reconstruction there involves a more extensive project overseen by Sime Darby Property.
In Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, where 17 homes were affected, developer Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd has completed demolition work, with construction and repairs in progress.
According to the plan, 11 houses will be completely rebuilt and six will undergo major repairs.
The new houses will be 1,200 square feet each, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The Taman Putra Harmoni recovery plan involves 101 homes. Sime Darby Property will rebuild or repair them according to original specifications.
Of the 101 units, 13 have been confirmed for a complete rebuild and four for repairs. The remaining 84 are still being assessed.
The report noted that the project is in the initial phase of site clearing, with the June 2027 completion date reflecting the significant scale of work required.
