Mordi Bimol to prioritise grassroots sports in new deputy minister role

KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-appointed Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol has vowed that his experience as a member of parliament will serve as a guide in carrying out his responsibilities at the ministry, particularly in ensuring that policies and programmes are grounded in realities.

In a statement, Bimol said his priority is also to gain a thorough understanding of the ministry’s roles and needs, while supporting existing efforts in youth and sports development, especially at the grassroots level.

“I accept my appointment as deputy minister with a sense of responsibility to carry out the trust placed in me to the best of my ability, in the interests of the nation’s youth and sports development.

“I would like to express my appreciation to the country’s leadership for the confidence shown in me, as well as to all parties who have extended their support and shared their views throughout my journey thus far.

“I am mindful of my own limitations and the need to continue learning.

“My experience as an MP, particularly in rural areas, will be a guide in contributing progressively and in line with realities on the ground,” he said.

Bimol was among the newly appointed deputy ministers in the new cabinet line-up announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim today.

Bimol, who is the Mas Gading MP, said he will continue to carry out his duties as a lawmaker with full commitment.

“Serving the people and advocating for the development needs of the local community will remain a priority,” he said.
