SHAH ALAM: Firefighters have extinguished about 90 per cent of the blaze at a plastic factory in Taman Industri Alam Jaya, Bandar Puncak Alam here.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the operations commander reported at 4.40pm today that only 10 per cent of the blaze was still ongoing and firemen were trying to bring it under control.
He added that firefighting overhaul works, a phase carried out after a fire has been brought under control or largely extinguished, was underway.
Mukhlis earlier said the fire had been contained by 1.30pm. He also said that there were no casualties.
It was reported that the blaze had engulfed the 200 by 300 square metres factory, with the Fire and Rescue Department receiving the call at 11.53am, arriving later at the scene at 12.27pm.
A total of 35 personnel from various fire and rescue stations in Kapar, Kota Anggerik, Rawang, Batu Arang and Petaling Jaya were despatched to the scene.
The incident also saw the firemen deploying an aerial ladder platform, two water tankers, two volunteer fire rescue department vehicles and four fire rescue tenders.
