Umno yet to discuss Sabah chief replacement after Bung Moktar's death

KUALA LUMPUR: has yet to start discussions on identifying a replacement for the Sabah chief following the death of Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

Puteri chief Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi said tonight’s Supreme Council meeting did not touch on any matters related to Sabah.

“There was nothing about Sabah,” she said when met after the meeting.

Nurul Amal said party leaders were still grieving Bung Moktar’s death, adding that a tahlil was held before the meeting in memory of the late Kinabatangan MP.

“Many of the Supreme Council members are still saddened by his passing.”

She admitted she herself was not yet emotionally prepared to discuss the future of the state leadership.

“The feelings are still mixed. I am also deeply affected by his passing.

“Every time there was a political meeting, he would be seated next to me.

“Perhaps we need a little more time,” she said.

Bung Moktar, who died on Dec 5 after suffering from lung and kidney complications, had recently retained his Lamag state seat in the Nov 29 state election which he had held since 2020.

A former Sabah deputy chief minister, Bung Moktar was first elected Kinabatangan MP in 1999 and held the seat ever since.
