KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has yet to make a decision on MIC‘s application for re-admission into the coalition.
PN chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the party had submitted its application more than a month ago.
“MIC has sent a letter to PN seeking re-admission.
“Many were not aware that MIC was one of the founding members of PN before its registration, alongside Pas.
“That is why the term ‘re-admission’ is used. We received the letter more than a month ago, but no decision has been made yet,” said the Kota Baru Member of Parliament.
Takiyuddin was speaking to reporters after officiating the opening of a new futsal court in Kampung Sireh here today.
On Nov 30, PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was reported as saying that MIC had submitted an application to join the coalition.
He said the application by the Barisan Nasional (BN) founding component party would be jointly decided at an upcoming Perikatan Supreme Council meeting.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president also said that all Perikatan component parties had, in principle, expressed support for MIC’s participation.
