KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation continues to improve in Perak and Selangor but remains unchanged in Pahang as of this morning.
In Perak, the number of flood victims decreased to 995 people from 279 families, down from 1,021 people (291 families) housed in nine temporary relief centres (PPS) across three districts last night.
The Perak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat reported that Hilir Perak continued to record the highest number of victims with 442, followed by Bagan Datuk (335) and Manjung (218).
Meanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) reported that two rivers were at danger levels: Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong, which recorded 3.86m (normal around 2m), and Sungai Slim in Slim River at 25.63m (normal 23.5m).
In Selangor, the number of victims in PPS also decreased this morning to 40 people from 13 families, compared to 114 victims (45 families) last night.
According to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Disaster Information website, only one PPS is still operating in the Kuala Selangor district.
In Pahang, the number of victims remains at 31 from 12 families since last night.
JKM Disaster Information reported that 24 victims from 11 families were placed at the Balairaya Kampung Ulu Sungai PPS in Raub, while seven families are at the Kuantan Special Vocational Secondary School.
Water level readings in all major rivers monitored by DID in the state are below the danger level.
