Sabah PN to decide on Lamag by-election bid following Bung's passing

KOTA BARU: Sabah Perikatan Nasional (PN) will decide whether to field a candidate in the Lamag state by-election following the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin yesterday.

Opposition chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said that should PN decide to contest the seat, it would be allocated to Bersatu.

“At the state election last Saturday, Bersatu contested this seat,” he said at a briefing and community event with the Indian community here last night, which was also attended by Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.

Bung Moktar , 66, died at 1.46am yesterday while receiving treatment at Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu.

In the recent state election, Bung defended the Lamag seat with a 153-vote majority in a six-cornered contest.

According to the Election Commission (EC), Lamag has 13,859 registered voters and is one of three state constituencies within the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat.
