KUALA LUMPUR: A bus driver and 14 passengers escaped unharmed after the vehicle skidded and crashed into a guardrail at Km428.3 of the North-South Expressway (Plus) northbound, near Bukit Beruntung, early this morning.

Hulu district police chief Supt Ibrahim Husin said the police were alerted to the incident by Plus Malaysia Bhd (Plus) at 4.49am before the highway investigation unit was dispatched to the scene.

“Preliminary investigations found that the bus was travelling from the Tuas bus terminal in Johor to Pantai Remis, Perak.

“While moving along the three-lane stretch, the 47-year-old driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid and hit the right-side guardrail at Km428.3 northbound,” he said in a statement today.

He said the driver and all passengers were uninjured and later boarded a replacement bus to continue their journey.

“The incident also led to the temporary closure of the right and middle lanes for cleanup work and vehicle removal,” he added.

Police urge witnesses or anyone with information on the accident to contact investigating officer Sgt Anuar Alang Kamarudin of the Highway Investigation Unit at 03-2266 3356 or any nearest police station.
