Fatal three-vehicle crash in Machang claims second life


MACHANG: The three-vehicle crash along Jalan Machang-Pasir Puteh near Kampung Banggol Judah last night has claimed another life, bringing the total number of fatalities from the accident to two.

Machang Fire and Rescue station operations commander Mohd Suhaimi Razali said the second victim has been identified as 12-year-old Muhammad Zakquan Abdullah.

He was a passenger in the car driven by Zulkifli Salleh, 54, who was the first victim to die in the accident.

“Zakquan died while receiving treatment at the hospital,” he said when contacted.

He added that the 12 other victims injured in the accident were still being treated at the Machang Hospital.

It was reported that a man was killed and 13 others injured in the crash involving a pick-up truck and two cars.

Zulkifli succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot after being pinned to his seat due to the impact of the accident.

There were five other people, including Zakquan, in the same car.

The other injured individuals included five people in the pick-up truck and three in the other car.
