Kuala Krai crash: Husband and wife laid to rest


JOHOR BARU: The husband and wife killed in a collision with an express bus at Jalan Kuala Krai–Gua Musang in Kampung Sungai Sam on Friday have been laid to rest.

The remains of Mohamad Faris Kamaludin, 24, and Nur Atikah Najihah Mohd Shah Penilzain, 18, were buried at the Kassim Noor Muslim Cemetery in Kampung Sungai Danga here at 10am today.

They were laid to rest in separate graves.

Their remains arrived from Kuala Krai, , at Surau Darul Akhirah, Larkin Public Flats, where funeral prayers were performed.

Family members, relatives and friends gathered to pay their last respects.

The crash on Friday also claimed the life of Nur Atikah Najihah’s mother, Nurul Ain Abdul Rahim, 39.

They were killed when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with the express bus.

Nurul Ain was buried at the Kampung Jambu Merah Muslim Cemetery in Melor at 2.30pm yesterday.

The three victims were travelling from Johor Baru to attend the wedding of Nurul Ain’s younger brother, Muhd Syafiq Abdul Rahim, 24, in Besut, Terengganu.

Police have also recorded a statement from the express bus driver to assist in investigations into the crash.

The driver’s urine test came back negative.
