Pakatan Harapan (PH) has pledged its support for Amirudin Shari to remain as menteri besar until the end of the current state administration term.

PH said this was necessary to ensure a stable and robust state government capable of executing key policies and projects.

They include the Second Selangor Plan, the development of the third port at Pulau Carey, the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang initiative and the Shah Alam Stadium Complex.

“Continuity in leadership will send a positive signal to investors and the business community in Selangor,” it said in a statement.

The statement was signed by Selangor DAP chairman Ng Sze Han, Selangor Amanah chairman Izham Hashim and Selangor deputy chairman Borhan Aman Shah.

They also placed importance on the role of Amirudin, as the Selangor PH chairman, in strengthening ties with Barisan Nasional ahead of the upcoming general election.

They said his experience was instrumental in fostering solidarity that led to the formation of the Selangor unity government after the last state election.

“As an experienced administrator, Amirudin’s leadership is crucial to ensure Selangor remains Malaysia’s economic powerhouse and successfully implements the Madani agenda championed by Prime Minister Ibrahim,” the statement added.

Amirudin has been Selangor’s menteri besar since June 2018, but speculation is rife that Tengku Zafrul Aziz’s anticipated entry into could see a challenge to his position.

Citing “compatibility and suitability”, Tengku Zafrul said he decided to leave after seeking advice from friends within and outside the party, including party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
