JAKIM and JAWI mosques to hold special prayers for flood protection


Mosques under JAKIM and JAWI will conduct Solat Hajat after Friday prayers seeking protection from floods and storms affecting multiple states.

KUALA LUMPUR: All mosques and Friday surau under JAKIM and JAWI will conduct Solat Hajat after Friday prayers tomorrow.

Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the special prayers seek Allah SWT’s protection from disasters including floods and storms.

The prayers also aim to safeguard the country and its people from property damage and other community trials.

“May this serve as a platform for us to pray for the ease of all matters involving our security forces, government agencies, and volunteers who are working tirelessly to assist the affected victims,” he said.

Mohd Na’im added that the community should be granted strength, patience and sustained protection through these prayers.

“May Allah SWT, through our prayers and efforts, lift all hardships, shower His blessings, and grant continued prosperity to our beloved country, Malaysia,” he stated in a Facebook post.

The announcement comes as MetMalaysia warned of unstable weather from Tropical Storm Senyar.

Director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip advised residents in , Perak and parts of Pahang to remain alert.

The storm is expected to bring unstable weather from midnight tonight until Saturday.

Kedah, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, , Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor are also forecast to be impacted.
