Over 22,500 flood victims evacuated in eight states


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 22,504 flood victims have been evacuated in eight states as of 8pm on Tuesday, according to the National Disaster Command Centre (NDCC).

Twenty-four districts have been affected, with 129 relief centres opened.

No fatalities have been reported.

remains the worst-hit state, with 9,564 evacuees from 3,530 families in four districts, and 40 relief centres in operation.

This is followed by Perlis, which has 5,235 evacuees (1,557 families) in one district across 17 centres; Perak, with 3,092 victims from 982 families at seven relief centres; and , which has 2,868 victims from 775 families at seven centres.

In Kedah, 1,629 evacuees from 543 families are taking shelter at 11 relief centres, while Penang reported 50 victims from 11 families at one centre. Pahang recorded 42 evacuees from 19 families across two centres.

Meanwhile, Terengganu has 24 flood victims from six families taking shelter at a relief centre.
