KUALA LUMPUR: Nestlé (Malaysia) Bhd aims to reach over 2,000 underprivileged students across the country through its 2026 Back-to-School programme.
In a statement, Nestlé Malaysia executive director of group corporate affairs Raja Nurmaria Murni said supporting children’s education is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen communities.
“This milestone demonstrates that even small acts of care can create a lasting impact and we look forward to many more years of partnership to benefit communities in need,” she said.
Over 100 Nestlé Sayang Komuniti volunteers will pack and distribute essential school supplies, helping children start the school year ready to learn.
Marking its 10th anniversary, the programme has grown from a 2015 pilot in Selangor to a nationwide initiative that has supported over 16,300 children through a decade-long partnership with non-governmental organisation Empire Project.
It provides school bags, uniforms, shoes and Nestlé family packs—including Milo, Everyday, Maggi, Nestum and Nestlé Breakfast Cereals—to ease the burden on families and ensure every child is prepared for school.
This year’s launch in Perlis saw 164 students benefit from the programme during a handover ceremony attended by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
Empire Project founder Mohd Ashraff Khan said the programme was kicked off to help children be better prepared for school.
“A decade later, seeing how this initiative has touched so many young lives reminds us of the power of collective effort and how much we can achieve when we come together for the community,” he added.
Meanwhile, SK Panggau, Perlis, headmaster Mofizam Mat Russ said many families struggle to afford school essentials and the support from the programme eases that burden and motivates students to start the year with confidence.
“The support from Nestlé and Empire Project makes a real difference. Along with lightening the parents’ load by providing much-needed school supplies, it also motivates our students to start the school year with confidence,” he said.
Part of Nestlé Sayang Komuniti, the Back-to-School programme empowers employees to support community projects while reinforcing Nestlé’s 112-year commitment to delivering high-quality halal products and giving back to Malaysian communities.
