PETALING JAYA:

A branch has pledged its support for the Barisan Nasional candidate in the Tempasuk state seat in Sabah over the nominee fielded by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.

Tempasuk information chief Aziz Bilin said this was the unanimous decision of the party’s coordinating committee for the area, The Borneo Post reported.

Aziz said although Pakatan Harapan had reached separate electoral pacts with both and GRS, among their main considerations was the cooperation between PH and at the federal level.

There will be a seven-cornered contest in Tempasuk with GRS’s Arsad Bistari seeking to defend his seat, having won it in the 2020 state election on a BN ticket.

BN is fielding Azuwan Norjan in place of Sabah deputy chief Abdul Rahman Dahlan, who withdrew himself at the last minute to make way for a younger contestant.

Also contesting are John Samud (Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat), Khidir Lamsil (Warisan),Walter Mark Mukis (Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku), Rimin Maun (Parti Kebangsaan Sabah) and Timuti Majitol (Parti Impian Sabah).
