
National men’s doubles shuttlers Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun swept aside Danish pair Christian Faust Kjaer-Rasmus Kjaer to storm into the quarter-finals of the Australia Open.
The world No 5 pair were too good for their newly-paired rivals, winning 21-11, 21-16 in just 28 minutes.
Already assured of a spot at next month’s World Tour Finals in China, Wei Chong-Kai Wun will face either compatriots Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri or Indonesia’s Raymond Indra–Nikolaus Joaquin in the last four.
Earlier, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzudddin Rumsani booked a quarter-final berth with a solid win over a Taiwanese pair.
However, Macau Open champions Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King bowed out in the last 16, falling 21-19, 21-13 to the South Korea-Malaysia pairing of Sol Gyu-Goh V Shem in 36 minutes.
