SEPANGGAR: Inanam is one of the most crowded contests in the Sabah election, but that has not broken the spirit of incumbent Datuk Peto Galim.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate said he believed that his track record in Inanam spoke volumes about his ability to continue serving the constituency.
“I am not worried. Most of them (those contesting the seat) are people I do not know.
“Only one or two of them are familiar to me since they are former members (of PH).
“That said, this is a democratic process and let’s have a healthy contest,” he told reporters after the Ziarah Kasih programme at Kampung Dambai, Inanam today.
Also present was PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Peto admitted that he was not as popular on social media as other candidates contesting in the Sabah general election.
“I might not be famous by name.
“I may not be popular on TikTok and I am not the type who ‘shouts’ (criticises others) during ceramah.
“I prefer to be known for my work and service to the community,” he said.
Peto said he was now focusing on meeting as many people as possible during the campaign period, especially fence-sitters, in his bid to retain the seat.
“I am from a party led by our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“We have the right way of working.
“And we will deliver what is promised to the people,” he said.
Inanam is one of four seats seeing a multi-cornered fight involving 13 candidates in the Nov 29 election.
