KUALA LUMPUR: 99 Speed Mart Retail Holdings Bhd’s net profit soared 49.9 per cent to RM160.7 million for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2025 (3Q25) from RM107.2 million a year ago.

This was supported by higher revenue, better gross profit and increase in other operation income, its Bursa Malaysia filings showed.

Its revenue increased 19 per cent to RM3.03 billion from RM2.55 million attributable to the continued expansion of the outlet network and steady consumer spending on daily essentials, supported by various government social assistance initiatives.

The home-grown minimarket chain expanded its footprint with a net addition of 269 stores year-on-year, raising its total outlet count to 2,966 as of Sept 30, 2025.

The company announced total dividends of 2.25 sen per share, made up of a 2.0 sen second interim dividend and a 0.25 sen special interim dividend, amounting to RM189 million.

For the nine-month period, 99 Speed Mart posted a net profit of RM457 million, up from RM365.8 million a year earlier, while revenue rose to RM8.4 billion from RM7.4 billion.

99 Speed Mart founder and chief executive officer Lee Thiam Wah said the performance reflects its effective growth strategy, which focuses on offering the right product mix at competitive prices, driving double-digit transaction growth and a slight increase in basket size.

“The third quarter will be remembered as another milestone period for us. The strategic plan to diversify into the overseas market materialised with the opening of our first outlet in Fuzhou, on Aug 31, 2025.

“This maiden entry serves as a prototype phase to understand local consumer behaviour and assess market potential, laying the foundation for further expansions in future,” he said.

Lee said the company has since expanded into with the opening of its Gua Musang outlet, giving 99 Speed Mart a presence in every state in Malaysia.

He added that it remains committed to enhancing accessibility and is on track to meet its annual target of 250 new outlets, aiming to exceed 3,000 stores by the end of 2025.
